Sessions

Session 1 What is Empathy?

Find your superpower of 50/50 listening and understand the difference between what is and what isn’t empathy.  When we begin to understand our patterns of responses to others we begin to communicate on a deeper level.

Session 2 Observations vs Judgements

We use hidden evaluations in our everyday language. These invisible evaluations and judgments create defensiveness and protection which easily escalates into conflict. We will learn to identify our hidden judgments that we mistake for the truth.

Session 3 The 3 Different Types of Requests. Requests vs Demands

Asking for something increases our chances of getting it by 100 %, and how we ask matters. Learn the difference between giving a choice or making a demand and how to make requests that increase the likelihood that others will want to contribute to us.

Session 4 Navigating difficult Conversations with NVC

Do you have something you’d like to talk about, but don’t know how to begin? Are you afraid of how you will react if you hear something that is painful? We will spend time using role plays to build skills of empathy and honesty, and care for our wellbeing during courageous conversations.

Also, you can order Marshall Rosenberg’s Book “Nonviolent Communication: A Language for Life” there too.

“Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is a unique and powerful process for inspiring compassionate connection and action. It provides a framework and set of skills to address a wide range of concerns, from the most intimate relationships to global political conflicts.

The purpose of NVC is to help all involved to sharpen their awareness of language so that they can express what really matters to them, and also hear what really matters to others. It involves empathic communication whereby we can attune ourselves to both our own and other people’s real needs.”
