Assistant to Producer

Purpose of Job

I’m looking for someone diligent to assist me across a variety of film projects and the company. It could be submitting to festivals, updating the website, maintaining lists, helping organise a shoot, making travel arrangements, doing simple cost reports, supporting funding applications and pitches, or researching financing opportunities.

You need attention to detail and be able to juggle multiple projects and priorities.

Ideally someone who has a desire to grow within the role.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

Experience

On the job training as needed, but ideally 2 years’ experience minimum. (Production Assistant to Production Coordinator level.)

Skills

  • First class organiser and administrator
  • First class writing and numerical skills
  • Experience of Excel/Google sheets and budgets
  • High level of computer, online literacy, social media
  • Thinking on your feet and anticipating issues
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to chunk tasks and work to deadlines
  • Good people skills
  • Good research skills
  • Ability to use databases and generate reports
  • Discretion when handling confidential matters
  • Able to work independently but team player

  • Learn about film business trends and the film value chain
  • Interest in using/exploring (digital/offline) tools to facilitate outreach
  • Able to anticipate technical needs and keep abreast of (changing) production processes
  • Interest in growing into a production (project) managing / producing role
  • Learn about the industry and who is who: funders, foundations, filmmakers, producers, festivals…

Terms of Employment

  • SHC is committed to Staff development
  • 1 month probation
  • 0.4 p/t salary / PAYE (2 days a week)
  • 6 months with view to longer term commitment

Salary

The starting salary for this role is £24,960 annual (pro rata) Pension contribution after 1st month

Holiday Entitlement

You are entitled to 5.6 weeks paid holiday leave per leave year (pro rata), which includes all statutory holidays. Payment for annual or statutory holidays will be at your normal rate of pay.

Hours

F/T working week is 40 hours over a 5-day period, Monday to Friday. 0.4 FTE is 16 hours a week. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required. There are no overtime payments but TOIL is negotiable. Extra hours will be agreed in advance.
